Experience
Chris has had significant experience in litigation since joining Talbot Olivier in 2004. Chris's experience in litigation has led him to take a particular interest in estate litigation. He has advised individuals, government departments, building and construction organisations and mining and resource companies in respect of:
- Estate litigation
- Class actions
- Contractual and property disputes
- Trade practices litigation
- Commercial litigation
- Alternative dispute resolution processes.
Career highlights
- Successfully represented the plaintiff against a local branch of a global automation technology company in an appeal against a decision to strike out the plaintiff's construction litigation claim.
- Supported the insurance team in successfully representing 18 individuals who sustained injuries as a result of a balcony collapse against the regulatory council bodies involved.
- Acted for the plaintiffs in an estate dispute, defending an appeal against a decision under the Inheritance Act, where the plaintiffs were awarded 80% of a significant estate after originally receiving nothing under the testator's Will.
- Successfully acted for clients in obtaining a substantial award from an estate, where the clients had originally not been included in their father's Will.
