Experience

Darryl is the lead principal of the criminal practice group. He is also a principal in the litigation practice group.

Whilst Darryl considers himself primarily a trial lawyer, having experience in both criminal and civil trials, Darryl provides advice on a diverse range of criminal and commercial matters.  His practice includes court and trial work, appeals, criminal confiscations, traffic matters, coronial inquests, extradition matters, liquor licensing and mediation.

Darryl believes his success can be attributed to hard work, dedication and a willingness to go the extra mile for his clients.  His practice has seen him represent clients all over the State, including Kalgoorlie, Northam, Broome, Bunbury and Manjimup.  He also sees criminal law as important and complementary aspect to the many services that Talbot Olivier provides, such as commercial advice, litigation, estate planning, wills, insurance and settlements, with many clients requiring advice in more than one area.

In addition to criminal law, Darryl provides clients with extensive commercial litigation services including trial advocacy in relation to complex commercial disputes and mediation.  Darryl has acted as Counsel in civil trials, WorkSafe matters, extradition matters and liquor licensing matters.

Darryl graduated from Murdoch University with a Bachelor of Law with Honours, in 2000 and prior to joining Talbot Olivier, was previously an Associate to a Supreme Court Judge and a State Prosecutor.

Since being appointed a principal at Talbot Olivier, Darryl's aim is to further build on the criminal law practice at Talbot Olivier, and to continue Talbot Olivier's tradition of providing excellent representation in the area of criminal law - a tradition that has continued for over 80 years.
