Experience
Nathan qualified as a solicitor in the UK where he worked for 10 years for a large insurance litigation firm in Manchester. He moved to Australia in 2008 where he re-qualified as a solicitor and was promoted to Senior Associate in December 2009. His experience includes:
- Advising insurers on bogus and fraudulent accidents.
- Managing uninsured loss recovery schemes for accident claims management companies.
- Providing subrogated loss recovery assistance and claims outsourcing for insurers and legal expenses insurers such as Royal Bank of Scotland; Direct Line; Churchill; Tesco and DAS.
- Advising insurers on general liability and professional indemnity claims involving fire and property damage, commercial disputes and claims against directors and officers.
- Providing strategic claims management advice to insurers in serious catastrophic loss cases.
- Debt recovery for motor vehicle property damage claims.
- Advising insurers on policy interpretation, quantum and risk assessments .

Career highlights
- Acted for an insurer in an unusual case where the plaintiff claimed injury from a motor vehicle accident involving an untraced vehicle and driver. The case was dismissed.
- Successfully represented a claimant who was involved in a motor vehicle accident caused by a drunk driver. The claimant sustained serious injury and required ongoing care.
- Acted for a claimant hit by a drunk driver whilst riding his bicycle. The claimant sustained serious brain injuries requiring ongoing life care. The outcome was a multi-million dollar settlement.
- Represented an insurer in a liability matter where the claimant sustained a broken neck following a motor vehicle collision between the claimant's vehicle and a horse that had escaped from its paddock. The trial determined that the horse's owner was liable for damages under the Animals Act and not the driver of the vehicle.
- Managing legal expenses portfolio of major brands and subrogated loss recovery account for RBS with 95% recovery rate and reducing claim costs and expenditure. The account required the use of state of art MI reporting and KPIs.

Qualifications: Legum Baccalaureus with Honours, Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice.

Publications/presentations: Nathan regularly submits articles on insurance matters, and has provided external training for insurance providers.
